• I’m a European and German patent attorney with a computer science master’s degree (Dipl.-Inf.)
• I’ve been drafting and litigating nothing but software patents for 15 years
• I’m teaching digital patenting at ETH Zurich, in private workshops for patent law firms, and by public speaking
• I was named one of “50 Leading Tech Voices” and an “AI Patent Expert” by the EPO as part of the 50th Anniversary of the European Patent Convention in 2023

My Backstory

A computer nerd turned software patent attorney. I’ve always been a computer nerd and a hobby programmer. Studied computer science. Worked in the automotive industry but realized that I’m less of a tinkerer myself. Became a patent attorney. Quickly became a salary partner in one of the most successful IP firms in Europe. Founded my own patent law firm to focus exclusively on patents for the digital future.

BESTPATENT is not your typical full-service intellectual property boutique. It’s a hyper-niche patent attorney firm with a strict “single-service” model:

Digital cases only— Clients typically call on me when the case involves an algorithmic, software-based, AI-based or otherwise digital invention. I’m in my genius zone when the EPO considers it to be non-technical.

Patents only— I don’t do trademarks, designs, or contracts. But I love connecting people. If you need help with something other than digital patents, I can recommend very competent people in my network.
